Delhi, October 10, 2025: Between 2022 and 2025, Mpower, an initiative of the Aditya Birla Education Trust, engaged with over 527,000 young adults across India through its centres, helplines, and campus outreach programmes. In Delhi specifically, the initiative reached over 8,700 young adults, including males and females. Self-diagnosis via digital tools, borderline personality disorder (BPD) among young adults, marital conflicts, depression, and anxiety are among the most common concerns in the city. Among children and adolescents, learning disabilities and ADHD remain prominent, with an increase in assessments such as IQ testing and learning disability evaluations. These findings underscore the need for early intervention and sustained, systemic support for youth.

To respond to these trends, Mpower mobilised a nationwide campaign across 50 colleges in 12 states on World Mental Health Day, including Delhi. The campaign created safe spaces for students to openly discuss and address mental health. In Delhi, activities were initiated at Atma Ram Sanatan Dharam College with the symbolic “Art of Letting Go” Balloon Activity, where students released balloons representing their worries. These were complemented by peer-led workshops and interactive sessions that encouraged dialogue, self-expression, and emotional well-being.

Across India, engagement patterns show variation in youth receptiveness. Pune recorded the highest number of young adults accessing Mpower services (2,67,000), followed by Mumbai (1,65,000), Kota (35,000), Bangalore (15,000), and Delhi (8,700). Analysis of male and female participation indicates that young women are more likely to seek support, highlighting the need for targeted initiatives to encourage greater male engagement. The data also suggests that youth in Pune and Delhi are relatively more open to seeking mental health support, reflecting growing awareness in these urban centres.

Mrs. Neerja Birla, Founder & Chairperson of Mpower, ABET said, “India’s youth hold immense potential, yet many struggle in silence and addressing this is a collective responsibility of us as a society. Our vision of Swasth Yuva Bharat is to nurture a generation that is resilient, mentally strong and emotionally balanced, achieved through early interventions in schools, empowering educators and strengthening peer networks and counselling support. At Mpower, we work with educational institutions on early intervention programs and promote mental health literacy in communities to create safe spaces where young people feel heard and empowered. This World Mental Health Day, it is time to move from awareness to action and make seeking help normalised.”

Beyond campuses, Mpower continues to expand initiatives into workplaces and communities. The Corporate Mental Health Pledge unites organisations nationwide to embed mental health into workplace culture, while the Human Library initiative enables adolescents and young adults to share lived experiences of anxiety, bullying, and resilience, fostering empathy, reducing stigma, and equipping peers with practical coping strategies.
