Mumbai, India – June 26th, 2025: As India accelerates implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, a major roadblock remains: the urgent need to upskill the country’s 9.7 million teachers in digital, inclusive, and experiential pedagogy. According to a 2023 Ministry of Education review, fewer than 30% of teachers have received formal training in these core NEP-mandated competencies. Responding to this national need, Aditya Birla Education Academy (ABEA) has announced admissions for its next cohort of the Post Graduate Diploma in Global Education (PGDGE)—a one-year, fully online program designed to prepare educators to lead 21st-century classrooms.
Structured to support both aspiring and in-service educators, PGDGE offers a balance of live interactive sessions, asynchronous learning. Its curriculum directly reflects NEP 2020 priorities—learner-centric methods, digital fluency, and global pedagogical exposure, and fostering entrepreneurship, making it a timely solution to the CPD (Continuous Professional Development) gap, particularly for teachers in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities.
Since its launch, the PGDGE has trained 54 educators from cities including Mumbai, Aurangabad, Hyderabad, Pilani, Kolkata, and international locations like Sharjah, Bangladesh, and Qatar. In the 2023–24 batch, 88% of participants affirmed that the course content aligned with global and NEP-aligned education frameworks, while 68% rated it “very useful” in transforming their classroom practices. Modules on 21st-century skills (68%), project-based learning (52%), and personal leadership (40%) emerged as the most impactful. The course attracts educators of all experience levels, with 72% of the recent group under 40, highlighting strong interest from India's next generation of teachers.
“India is at a pivotal moment in its educational journey. The NEP sets a bold vision, but its success begins in the classroom,” said Mr. Pradipta Hore, Programme Director at ABEA. “Unfortunately, most teachers have had little exposure to experiential, inclusive, or digital pedagogies. PGDGE is designed to fill this urgent gap by building a global mindset and offering real-world tools to help teachers move from Conventional methods to future-ready practice.”

This course doesn’t just upskill—it empowers teachers to become changemakers. When our educators evolve, Indian education becomes globally competitive. And our students move from rote memorization to meaningful, experiential learning.”
Teachers consistently rated the program’s faculty expertise at 4.5/5, with strong satisfaction around course clarity and engagement. Around 80% found the online learning platform (LMS) effective, making PGDGE a scalable model for quality teacher development, irrespective of geography.
As Indian classrooms move toward interdisciplinary, learner-driven approaches, PGDGE equips educators with the tools, mindset, and mentorship to lead that change, not just adapt to it.
