How Inclusive Education Changed His Life

Through The Aditya Birla Integrated School, Danesh discovered how inclusive education could open doors, shift perspectives, and give his life a renewed sense of purpose.

I joined TABIS in 2014 as a shy boy with little confidence in who and what I am. But looking back today, I firmly believe that whatever I am today, I owe it all to my school and my teachers.

I am so grateful that I had the right mentors at the right time. Truly, our school is a fountain of knowledge and experience. I was an introvert before joining TABIS, but the school helped me overcome my shyness and become an extrovert. It brought out the best in me, and I went on to become the Head Boy, which boosted my confidence even further.

TABIS had multiple extracurricular activities happening from time to time, which not only helped us students to refresh our minds from our daily academics but also instilled in us skills such as teamwork, problem solving and leadership.

I have beautiful memories of my school trip to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland, where I was part of a group of students who performed in the theatre festival. Our play was called Bollywood Express, and it was a life-changing experience as my stage fear flew out of the window. There has been no looking back ever since.

By having a limited number of students in each class, TABIS also gave us a personalised one-is-to-one learning experience. My teachers made learning fun rather than just concentrating on bookish knowledge, for which I am really grateful. There’s a saying that, “A good teacher inspires hope, ignites the imagination, and instils a love of learning.” This holds true for all our teachers at TABIS.

Moreover, my school’s mission of ‘Inspiring potential to create happy, confident, balanced, and independent learners whilst nurturing the qualities of amity, bravery, integrity, and sincerity’ is absolutely true – I have, after all, experienced it all.
